Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (hereinafter Mitsubishi Motors) will showcase the Mitsubishi XRT Concept – a concept car for the All-New Triton pickup truck model (in some markets as the L200) planned for launch in fiscal year 2023 (April 2023-March 2024) in Bangkok The 44th International Motor Show (BIMS) 2023 which will be held from 21 March to 2 April 2023.
The Triton is Mitsubishi Motors' best selling model manufactured at the Laemchabang Factory in Thailand as well as a strategic vehicle for the global market which has been exported to around 150 countries around the world.
With its first major design change in about nine years, the All-New Triton will be the sixth generation of Mitsubishi Motors' midsize pickup truck model. After being launched in Thailand in fiscal 2023, following this model will be released for the ASEAN Region, Oceania and other global markets.
The concept car from the All-New Triton, the Mitsubishi XRT Concept has a characteristic dashing character at the front and a solid hood that stretches sideways with a bold horizontal style. Furthermore, this concept car is equipped with front and rear over fenders and mud tires, providing strong power to compete in challenging rallies and cross various terrain.
On the bodywork there is a camouflage design inspired by lava rocks with condensed energy and the sides have been decorated with the iconic Ralliart graphic with 10 parallel lines expressing Mitsubishi Motors' passion for driving.
At the 2023 Asia Cross Country Rally, the Mitsubishi Ralliart Team, receiving technical support from Mitsubishi Motors, plans to compete with the prototype cross-country model of the All-New Triton (group T1 specification) in its quest for a second successive win.
The Asia Cross Country Rally is the largest cross country rally event in the ASEAN region and has been held 27 times so far. This year, the competition is set to cover a total distance of more than 2,000 kilometers in mid-August, taking place in Thailand and continuing in neighboring Laos.
Hiroshi Masuoka, winner of the Dakar Rally twice in 2002 and 2003, will return as team director and Mitsubishi Motors technicians will carry out pre-testing and accompany the team to provide support for the rally. Mitsubishi Motors uses the expertise from rallying experience for the development of its production vehicles, in creating vehicles with the uniqueness of Mitsubishi Motors, which provide safety, comfort in driving pleasure in all weather or road conditions.
