Polytron Partners with Skyworth to Develop Electric Cars
Polytron's plan to produce electric cars is apparently not just a joke. Not long ago, the parent company of technology PT Hartono Istana Teknologi signed a memorandum of understanding with Skyworth Auto.
Quoted from Skyworth's official website, the agreement between Polytron and Skyworth was made in August last year. The agreement concerned the construction of a factory, product development, and local production of hardware and software.
The factory that was built is expected to smooth the supply chain, reduce costs, and increase product competitiveness. Thus, Polytron can also develop its own electric cars that suit the needs of consumers in the country.
If realized, in the future it is estimated that Polytron will be able to produce 10 thousand units of electric vehicles from Skyworth in the next three years. Skyworth has even visited the Polytron factory in Krapyak, Central Java.
Previously, Polytron did leak a little about their first electric car which was said to be born after Eid 2025. This was conveyed by Tekno Wibowo as Polytron's Commercial Director.
"Maybe not (concept), yes, when will the concept be. The car will be after Eid," said Tekno in Jakarta, Tuesday (21/1). Tekno did not mention exactly when his electric car would be launched in Indonesia. However, what is certain is that his party will assemble the electric car locally.
"Our RnD has collaborated with companies abroad, actually Google has it. Currently, the reference for electric vehicles to that one country. All the industries are there. Yes, locally assembled," he explained.
If you visit the official Skyworth Auto page, it turns out that this company is part of Skywell New Energy Automobile Group Limited which was only founded in 2017. In the same year, this manufacturer introduced their first electric car.
In terms of brand, Skyworth itself was only inaugurated in 2019. One year later, Skyworth K was published and had launched a bus, only in 2022 did the manufacturer introduce their hybrid car.
Currently, Skyworth only has one model series, namely the K-Series. In this series, there are several models, namely K LHD, K RHD, K-i LHD, and one model that is still in the form of a CE11 prototype.
Until now, it is not known for sure which model will be launched by Polytron in collaboration with Skyworth. Let's just wait for the release date.
